Mackie Designs Inc. Announces Appointment of Chief Operating Officer

August 12, 1999 – Woodinville, Wash. – Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE) today announced the appointment of Jamie Engen as Chief Operating Officer.

Engen most recently served as Managing Director of Radio Cine Forniture (RCF) S.p.A. a wholly owned subsidiary of Mackie. Engen has spent time overseeing Mackie's European operations and has assisted in the repositioning of Mackie distribution in five European countries to subsidiaries of RCF.

Prior to joining Mackie in August 1998, Engen was a Senior Vice President of Price Waterhouse of Vancouver B.C., Canada, and led the Business Regeneration group of Vancouver, which specializes in the restructuring and refinancing of troubled companies. Engen's background prior to his latest position at Price Waterhouse includes acting as Executive Producer of a Canadian television series, several years of experience as a chartered accountant for Price Waterhouse, and five years as a freelance sound consultant specializing in the design and equalization of large sound systems in stadiums, arenas, and convention centers.
