Mackie Designs Appoints James Engen CEO and President

November 17, 2000 – Woodinville, WA – James T. Engen, formerly chief operating officer at Mackie Designs Inc., (Nasdaq: MKIE) has been named chief executive officer and president by Mackie's board of directors. Mr. Engen has also been appointed to the company's board of directors.

Greg Mackie, the company's founder and chairman commented, "The Mackie board of directors strongly supports the effort and progress that Jamie has made on behalf of our company as our chief operating officer over the last year. As COO, Jamie has proved himself capable of managing the day to day activities of the growing Mackie organization, at the same time proving himself capable of providing the leadership and strategic guidance that we require of a CEO."

"I stepped down from the CEO role some time ago and my focus since that time has been on product concept and product development," Mackie added. "This appointment gives appropriate recognition to the leadership and direction he has provided the company. During the announcement of his promotion, Engen also took the opportunity to recognize four recently added key senior executives who he said are critical to ensuring the company's continued growth and performance. Mackie recently added Frank Loyko, Jr., as executive vice president of sales, Wyatt Hyora as executive vice president of manufacturing, Stace Rudd as vice president of human resources, and Jim Thomas as vice president of information technology.

Prior to becoming Mackie's COO a little more than a year ago, Engen was managing director of Radio Cine Forniture (RCF) S.p.A., Mackie's wholly-owned Italian subsidiary which produces precision transducers, loudspeaker systems and professional audio contracting products. Prior to joining RCF in August 1998, Engen was a senior vice president at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
