Mackie Industrial Brand Debuts in the European Contractor Market

March 7, 2001 – Frankfurt Musik Messe, Frankfurt, Germany – Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE), announces that its Mackie Industrial line of contractor sound products is now available in the European market.

Established in the United States in April 1999, Mackie Industrial combines established speaker and amplifier lines formerly sold under the RCF brand with new innovative digital electronics developed by Mackie's Woodinville Engineering department.

Mackie Industrial products will be distributed in Europe by current Mackie Sales Offices in Germany, England, France and Italy.

According to Jon Sager, Director of Worldwide Marketing Development for Mackie's Installation Products group, "The Mackie Industrial product line is now unified by the addition of Mackie Digital technology in the form of the SP2400 dual-channel music controller/amplifier and the DX8 DSP-based digital audio mixer. These products provide the critical 'nerve centers' that make our proven lines of supporting speakers and electronics perfect for an even wider range of applications."

Mr. Sager continues, "By combining RCF's complete contracting product line and fifty-plus years of experience in Europe with Mackie's leadership position in digital technology, the pooled resources of the companies can provide new and exciting, technologically advanced products for this ever growing market."

Mr. Sager states, "To serve the Contractor and the Consultant community more effectively Mackie Industrial will implement Application Support Groups, a successful concept originated at EAW. ASGs will provide factory assisted design support to both Contractors and Consultants who may not be fully aware of the Mackie Industrial product line and the capabilities of its products."

Mackie Designs purchased Italian manufacturer RCF in June 1998 and in 2000 acquired EAW.
