Mackie Designs Inc. Announces the Appointment of Adrian Bell to the Newly Created Position of Account Supervisor

January 17, 2002 - Woodinville, WA - Lori Stutsman, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE), today announced that Adrian Bell has joined Mackie's marketing team in the newly created position of Account Supervisor. In this role, Mr. Bell will help with the strategic marketing plans for all Mackie's brands including EAW & RCF. He will be responsible for planning and overseeing the deployment of high-impact, relevant communication efforts in order to build brand awareness and drive product sales in each of Mackie's three primary market segments-recording, live/sound reinforcement and contracting.

"Adrian brings to Mackie more than 10 years of integrated communications and branding experience, from both the corporate and agency sides," stated Ms. Stutsman. "His strategic thinking, positioning and account management expertise will be invaluable to our newly created Market Development Teams as we work to better communicate and connect with our customers."

Before joining Mackie, Mr. Bell was Director of Brand Marketing for the luxury hotel chain Preferred Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw a global repositioning effort for the brand and built a successful customer acquisition and management program. Prior to that, Mr. Bell was the Director of Marketing Communications for the leading direct marketing services company, Experian, where he designed and managed product and market-focused communication programs.

Mr. Bell has also held account management roles with several leading Chicago-based public relations agencies managing product launch, repositioning, and change management communication efforts for some of the top consumer and business brands including Andersen Consulting, Owens Corning, Office Depot and Bass Beers.
