Mackie Releases Saturated Fat – A New Third Party Plug-In For the Mackie Soundscape System
NAMM • ANAHEIM, CA — January 16, 2003 – Mackie Designs Inc. (NASDAQ: MKIE) today announced the release of a new third party plug-in, Saturated Fat™ for the Mackie Soundscape 32 digital audio workstation.
Saturated Fat
Developed by Canadian-based software company, Acuma Labs, Saturated Fat is a mono plug-in that employs an exciting new proprietary technology to achieve warm, natural-sounding, tube (saturated) distortion and cabinet modeling. Users can choose from over 40 preset distortion types to create the "perfect sound" or select from the array of factory presets to find a setting that suits any style of music.
Users can build custom distortions that can be saved and recalled as a user preset. Presets are built by combining the Cabinet Modeler, selecting from a list of small, medium, large, acoustic and bass amps, with the Drive Level and the on-board 7-Band EQ. Users don’t have to contend with loud "live" amplifier setups anymore – they can just plug any instrument into the Soundscape system and start playing. Saturated Fat’s distinctive distortion types and amplifier models instantly provide great sounds.
Saturated Fat (MSRP $199 USD) is available worldwide through authorized Mackie dealers.
Soundscape 32
Mackie Soundscape 32 combines the performance and reliability of analog machines with all the power and tools of digital technology and brings it to the market in one affordable package. The Soundscape 32 operates independently of its computer-based GUI via an embedded record engine. All audio inputs and outputs are routed directly to/from the hard drives of the unit – the PC is used only as a peripheral controller. This removes the biggest problem with computer-based recording today – instability. Soundscape 32 does not crash or lock up and even recovers itself after complete power outages.
